I don’t remember enjoying it much, but I was young and wouldn’t have naturally appreciated Chandler’s style. You make me think that I would enjoy his books now. I plan to give them a second try. Your description of the character at the beginning made me laugh and chuckle out loud as it was consistent with Chandler's own goals for his character later on in the article.
